Pipe Relining Adelaide Services

Repairing sewer pipes located underground is something that most home owners have to deal with at once stage or another.

Over time, pipes break, crack or corrode. At Will’s Plumbing we use systems and devices aimed at extending the service life of sewers and other underground piping infrastructure to ensure that there is no damage to your property.

Choosing to reline your pipes, instead of replacing them, will save you time, and money – both on the materials and excavation/re-installation. And if the damaged pipes are beneath a driveway or walkway, it’s going to cost more to remove the concrete. At Will’s Plumbing we use non-intrusive methods so that everything stays intact.

Along with our Hydrojet drain cleaner we have CCTV (video) drain inspection technology. This can be used to pinpoint any obstacles and drainage issues you may have in your drain. We provide footage of what we have found and recommend the best method of repair.

Gone are the days when relining your pipes is messy, costly and time-consuming. Will’s system is simple and fast, with minimal intrusion – so you don’t need to worry about damage to your house. Sewer repairs that require no digging are cost-effective, and once they’ve been relined, you can eliminate any concerns about having to worry about sewer line damage anytime soon. Give Will’s a call today to have your pipes relined and fixed, with a certainty that there will be no damage to your property.

Pipe Relining

What is Drain Pipe Relining?

Drain Pipe Relining is a no-dig repair solution. It is a common technique to repair drains that are in poor condition. It is a good alternative to digging out a section of piping below ground and replacing or repairing it.

It can save you a significant amount of money, rather than paying to replace a section of piping in a difficult-to-access location.

Drains in poor condition can cause blockages which can be inconvenient at the best of times! This repair technique leaves the existing piepe below ground and in-place; inserting a liner into the section of damaged piping to create a repair within the old pipe.

Relining is cost-effective and less destructive to your propertyy – especially when pipes are located below a house, driveway, concrete foothpath, your bathroom, or any difficut-to-access location.

The method uses a resin, which is applied to a felt/tube material which is then inserted into the damaged section of the drain. This then hardens and cures, using specialised equipment, forming a pipe within the existing pipe section.

What are the benefits of Pipe Relining?

Not only less invasive and destructive, drain pipe relining can be a convenient and cost-effective technique. This is ideal for getting the drain up and running as soon as possible.

Drain Pipe relining can be less labour intensive, saving time on-site and money in pocket. It can often leave your property untouched. Your property is left the way it was before we arrived, all with repaired drains. There is often no digging, cutting concrete, removing plants and pavers, removing fences, removing retaining walls or any other inconvenient intrusions. It can also help in preventing future damages!

Relining Procedure

  1. Locate the section of piping causing drain malfunction by talking to the customer.
  2. Perform a CCTV drain inspection to identify the location of the piping.
  3. Discuss with owner options on repair.
  4. Clean the section of pipe using drain cleaning equipment and a high-pressure Hydro-Jet.
  5. Roughen or mechanically etch the internal surface of the existing piping using sanding discs of a wire brush.
  6. Flush to remove any debris.
  7. Perform a secondary CCTV drain inspection to inspect the section be relined.
  8. Insert the section of liner/felt into the section of piping to be patched.
  9. Perform a third CCTV drain inspection to ensure that the liner/felt is located in the correct position and also installed correctly.
  10. Reinstate the laterals by opening to the full internal diameter of the lateral, alternatively install one piece lateral junction liner.
  11. Perform a fourth CCTV drain inspection to confirm the integrity of the renovated pipe and also a satisfactory outcome of the condition of all laterals.
  12. Perform hydrostatic testing of the section of piping renovated/relined.

Pipe Relining Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Drain Pipe relining is a somewhat new technology that allows mostly drains below ground to be repaired without the need of digging, cutting concrete, removal of retaining walls, pulling up pavers, removing fences etc.

In a nutshell, drain pipe relining is a method of installing a section of special epoxy resin within the damaged section of a drain.

This will inflate it into a position up against the internal wall of the existing drain and form a pipe within your damaged pipe which then hardens.

Pipe relining can now be used on a variety of pipes, including sewer, stormwater, concrete pipes, terracotta/earthenware pipes, cast iron pipes, pvc pipes, lead pipes, copper drain pipes, and concrete pipes.

Pipe relining is a leading technology that rehabilitates the pipe rather than removing the whole system, which can be quite destructive and costly. This potential money-saving option has been tested on systems around Australia and is proven to deliver great results.

With pipe relining the straight section of a drain can be lined along with junctions which can save you time and money!

Normally the felt or liner is made from polyester or fiberglass, with a polyurethane coating used in conjunction with an epoxy resin.

This is an open question. The reason why there is not a one size fits all answer is because each job is different. Some factors which are considered when pricing a repair are:

  • The location of drain
  • The length and amount of drain to be relined
  • The material of drain and configuration of the drainage pipe, for example is the drain PVC or Earthenware and is the liner or felt to be installed in a straight section of drainpipe or in a junction or elbow.
  • Access into drain
  • The amount of time to prepare the drain for relining, for example roots may need to be removed, drain may need etching, removal of foreign objects like concrete, star droppers, reinforced rob etc.
  • The execution risks
  • These are some factors taken into consideration when costing/quoting a repair so it’s best to give us a call so we can quote you on the potential cost of the repair.

The cost of relining in some cases may be a little more, especially when a pipe is located in a difficult location to access. Although we always recommend that you consider all options, pipe relining and other methods.

This depends on a number of factors. You as the owner should take into account the convenience of pipe relining. Let me ask you this, is it worth paying to dig up and replace the old drain? Or instead, opt for an effective process with pipe relining if it works out cheaper?

Not only will the traditional method leave your property or business a mess but the cost to reinstate a fence, concrete, pavers, etc may cost more than relining.

In saying all of this, the cost of relining may in some cases cost a lot less than digging and repairing a drainpipe especially when a pipe is located in a difficult location to access.

All that said, it’s worth getting us out to assess the job and give you a quote before you make a decision.

The method uses a resin, which is applied to a felt/tube material. This is then inserted into the damaged section of the drain.

With the use of specialised equipment, this will harden and cure to form a pipe within the existing pipe section.

Normally a warranty between 25 years applies on the liner itself subject to terms and conditions.

Best to get us out and inspect your drains using a drain camera.

We can show you firsthand the scale of the job and help you to go through your options.
